Surgeons Remove Kidney Through Vagina
http://www.nytime...wanted=all
Vaginal Nephrectomy
http://ohiosurger...ctomy.html
For the first time, a living donor had her kidney removed through her vagina.
Despite the technical challenges, and the fact there are limitations on the technique, a natural orifice approach shrinks scars, and reduces the pain and recovery time that accompanies a major operation.
It very well may be the future of surgery.

New Nanotechnology Treatment for Heart Attacks
http://sciencelin...w/801/258/
http://www.clubic...en-vu.html

Antibiotic Combination Defeats Extensively Drug Resistant TB
http://www.aecom....asp?id=305
The combination of the beta-lactamase inhibitor and meropenem lead to rapid sterilization of cultures of TB
"This discovery could be one of the most promising developments in TB research since the discovery of isoniazid r12; it is very exciting," said William Jacobs, Ph.D., referring to the first effective antituberculosis medication discovered in the 1950s.

Nine Greek physicians are named and portrayed on one of the opening pages of an Arabic medical manuscript written in the region of Mosul, in present day Iraq, between 1220 and 1250. The text, an r0;antidotarium,r1; first outlines the thought of the great second-century Greek physician Galen on antidotes to snakebite, then continues with an original discussion of a number of other antidotes, their preparation, dosage and method of use. Galen's portrait is at the bottom.

Hive Five: Five Best Mind Mapping Applications

The way the brain fundamentally thinks is radiant, meaning that it thinks primarily from image centres, and then radiates out. We think like exploding stars. The brain's thinking processes, especially memory, creativity and understanding are based on networks of information. When you say 'mango', the brain sees the picture of the mango, imagines the taste, the colour. So, from that central picture mango, you have the radiant branches, taste, colour, tropics, your favourite mango, mango cakes, mango pudding, mango drink, regions where mangos are grown… all radiating off, with rich sensory details."
